Sports Physiotherapy Services & Injury Guides

This page brings together the services Adapt provides and the injuries we most commonly treat. Services describe our approach to a type of rehabilitation — from sports physiotherapy and return-to-sport programs through to knee, shoulder, and back and neck rehabilitation. Conditions are guides to specific injuries: what they typically feel like, what tends to contribute to them, and what rehabilitation generally involves.

If you’re not sure which applies to you, start with the condition closest to your symptoms — each one links through to the services that treat it. Care at Adapt is assessment-led and built around what your training or sport actually demands, for people across Chirnside Park, Croydon, Ringwood, Lilydale and Mooroolbark.

Conditions

Lower Limb

Patellar Tendinopathy

Patellar tendinopathy is pain at the front of the knee, just below the kneecap, commonly related to jumping, running or gym-based loading. Assessment focuses on how the tendon is currently tolerating load.

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel pain, often noticed with the first steps in the morning or after standing or walking for extended periods. Assessment helps identify what's contributing to your symptoms.

Runner’s Knee (Patellofemoral Pain)

Runner's knee, or patellofemoral pain, is a common cause of pain around or behind the kneecap, often related to running, squatting or stairs. Assessment looks at how your knee is loading and moving to understand what's driving your symptoms.

Shin Splints

Shin splints refer to pain along the shin bone, commonly related to increases in running or training load. Assessment helps identify what's driving your symptoms and how to manage training safely.

Stress Fracture

A stress fracture is a small crack in a bone caused by repeated load, most often affecting runners and people who've recently increased their training. Because early identification and load management matter more here than with typical training soreness, assessment focuses on identifying it and managing load appropriately.

Upper Limb

Rotator Cuff Pain

Rotator cuff pain refers to pain and reduced function related to the muscles and tendons that stabilise the shoulder, often noticed with lifting, reaching or overhead activity.

Shoulder Impingement

Shoulder impingement refers to pain that occurs when structures in the shoulder become compressed during certain movements, often with reaching or overhead activity.

Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain is a common reason people see a physiotherapist, whether it relates to overhead sport and training or everyday activity and posture. Assessment looks at how your shoulder is moving and being controlled, so care is built around what's actually driving your symptoms.

Spine

Neck Pain

Neck pain is a common presentation, ranging from mild stiffness to pain that limits movement. Assessment helps clarify what's driving your symptoms and supports a return to normal activity.

Sciatica

Sciatica describes pain that spreads from the back into the leg, related to irritation of the sciatic nerve. Assessment helps clarify what's driving your symptoms and guides appropriate management.

Sport & Activity

Running Injuries

Running injuries usually build up over time rather than happening in one moment. Assessment looks at your training load, strength capacity and running mechanics to identify what is driving your symptoms.

Swimming Injuries

Swimming places repetitive, high-volume demands on the shoulder, neck and trunk. Assessment looks at your training load, stroke mechanics and strength capacity to identify what is driving your symptoms.
